I think one of the reasons people are really falling in love with Barack Obama, besides, of course, the desire for “change” (leave it to eight years of Bush for us all to get this excited about a political moderate), is because he actually seems like a real person.
Despite his eloquence and closely managed media personality, despite the bombast and historical nature of everything, there’s this feeling that he might actually live and breathe and bleed just like you and me. He’s not all hubris like the Clintons or awkard folksy like Bush. He’s not someone you wanna bbq with, he’s someone you want to talk to. Admire, even. Look up to.
The “behind the scenes” photos the campaign’s been posting to flickr show a man with a family who’s sort of like me and my family. Right? This photoset from election night captures it all so perfectly. The history. The emotion. Isn’t this just what I’d be doing if I was in his shoes?
